How to clean and lube a baitcaster?

Featured Replies

I've got a BPS Megacaster that I'd like to take apart this Winter to clean and lube it up for next season.

Anyone have any advice on what lube to use and what points need lubing?

Are there any websites that show the proper procedures for this?

Thanks

I know he doesn't service reels anymore ,read the articles section on how to do it yourself.

If you have never opened one don't. Don't open the reel unless you have the schematic. If you don't have the schematic for the reel then you will have to contact Outdoor World Rod & Reel Repair to try and get one. They are the only service center that actually services/supports BPS reels.

tbird,

The articles from Heartland only touch on the subjects of service and were written by someone else. BTW he was one of my customers in the 90's, and thought he could be my across town competition...
