Any experience with this Penn spinning reel?

I'm think I'm going to get a new spinning outfit for schoolie stripers and trout.  It may pull double duty for brackish water LMB.

Does anyone have any experience with the Penn AF series?   I've messed around with them in the store and feel reely nice and super smooth.  Just wondering how well they hold up since its a relatively new design for Penn.

I wanted one of those as well, however I can not find anyone with experince with. them I made a posting on the saltwater forum that I am member of. I only got one reply and it was not all that great. The author told me that he kept having line twist issues. He ended up sellin it and buying a Slammer. Penn promotes that reel as being braid ready. If I hand to choose I  might would get the Penn Slammer. Proven reliabilty and they are the same price. I am not crazy about the handle either. I like a T shaped handle for my saltwater reels. Other than that it seems like a nice reel. Hope this helps.

Don't know about that particular model, but I do have a older Penn (I'd say 10yrs old) and it's like a rock! I've dropped it totally under the saltwater at least 3 times and it keeps on going strong! I use it for Snook and Reds mostly.

I've got some older Penns, and they are (like you said) rock solid.  I just wondered about this reel because in the store it seems very nicely made and is about as smooth as any reel I've ever tried.

Ditto.  I've owned Penn's for years, from International 130 2 speeds to Power graph spinning gear.  I've NEVER owned a Penn product that I didn't have complete confidence in.

That reel looks perfect for inshore spinning.  Nice looking too, something Penn has never been known for (except the Internationals,....they are drool worthy but at 1k each, they should be)

I'd say go for it and if you do, please keep us informed as to how you like it.
