What size rod would be best suited for a 3/4oz,1oz Castaic swim bait? :-X

I would rather have a rod that is rated for more weight than the bait you're throwing than have a rod that is right at the limit.

I've got a 7'11 H Okuma and I used it quite often last year to pitch a 3/8 oz. jig.

For that size bait I am using a St. Croix 8' H, Revo reel and Power Pro 50 lb braid

That is a relatively small lure, and you asked for best.

I'd go with either an Evergreen Balista or a Steez 8' rod. Both have a lively tip and would be perfect for that size bait.
