Anyone buy the Megaforce Baitcast reel?

Just wanted to know what input you had on this reel? I did buy one this past week, but we have hard water yet. So any good or bad on this reel would help.

Thanks Dan

My buddy has one. Wasnt impressed, but hey, can't beat it for the price. Looked like it was built nice and strong.

I've got one and it's an okay reel, but nothing spectacular. I took it out a couple times and found the twitching bar to be almost useless for the weed-filled lakes I fish in. It just doesn't offer enough leverage to twitch the lure in the weeds. It casts well and retrieves smoothly, but that's not what I bought it for.

Mine also has a problem with the drag. It simply refuses to stay set. It's constantly loosening itself. I suppose I could take it apart to see if I can fix it, but I decided to replace it instead. I picked up a new Procaster Rojo on Ebay for $60 and put the Megaforce in the drawer.

Most people seem to be happy with theirs. I'm not necessarily unhappy with mine, I just think I could've done better for $60.

I wish you luck with yours and hope it works well for you. It really is a neat little reel. ;)

Every year I always ask the owner at my local tackle shop what is the hottest thing going this year and what is the worst new product.

(As of two weeks ago) This years hot item has been swimbaits from Reaction Strike and his dog of the year has been the Megaforce.  He has had 4 of the 10 he has sold come back with mechanical drag problems.  One he showed me new in the box, couldn't be cranked.

I have > 40 hours on my reel and it works great! I am very pleased with the reel, especially considering the price. I have found that the twitchin bar is great after you get a light bite. Almost every time they run away with it after you hit that bar.
