The experiment revealed...

Some of you might remember my post about a 'friend's experiment about a month and a half ago.  Well, it's time to reveal the secret.

There was no friend.   ;)

And the reel in question?

I've spent a good deal of time throwing it over the last couple of weekends.  I have to say that it is a nice reel.  Don't know if it is as sturdy as the Japanese Shimanos, but it is a nice casting reel.

Had I not stocked up on Citica 100's over the winter, I would probably be clearing my local Wal Marts of the Revo S.

Comparing it to my gold standard (Citica 100DSV), I would give the nod to the Shimano in regards to:

Fit, finish, and overall construction.

I prefer the handle of the Revo.  They're about even in terms of free spool and braking.  Both will sling a senko about the same distance.

IMO you can't go wrong with either.

I'm really impressed with the S.  When they first came out, I figured they weren't up to par with the SX and STX.  They are.  They are fantastic reels.  I sold my Curado 200 DHSVs and replaced them with Revo Ss.  I've got mine on my "spinner bait" rods - All Star American Classic 6'8' MH/F.  Few days ago I was using one to throw Bass Magic swim baits.  Man, that combo would really put them out there.

I was in the market for a revo as well. I went with the SC simply because I wanted a burner reel. If they offered the S in a 7.1.1 I would own one. I am already happy with my SC.

I think that Abu hit the nail on the head with this series.
