Abu Revo vs Curado...  Why the Difference in Bearings?

Featured Replies

Ok, so what should I be looking for in a good baitcasting reel?  I see where the Curado has 5 bearings and the Revo SX has 11.  What does the Curado cost more?  Does the number of bearing mean much?  The Revo was lighter in weight and seemed a little smoother...

Thanks!

I'm not sure about bearings in casting reels but Shimano typically has fewer bearings in their spinning reels as well--which doesn't stop them from being just as smooth as reels with twice the bearings.

It's not the number of bearings that is important, it's the quality.

Over the years, Shimano reels have proven to hold up very well.

All of my older equipment is as smooth or smoother today than

the first day I used them. I have recently received the Revo STX

as a gift, but have only fished it a few times. Everyone that has a

Revo seems to like them very much. I'm sure you will like whichever

reel you decide to buy.
