Shimano Citica or Curado?

Featured Replies

Gonna break down and buy one before the rebate is over. I think the $109 deal from Bass Pro for the Citica with a eXtreme series rod is the way to go, even though I'd rather have a Curado. What are the main differences? Is the Curado worth the extra money?

I'm not sure why exactly *** put their Curado on sale, but they were going for $120 . $120 for the Curado 100D is an awesome price.

Unfortunately they're out, but other stores might start doing that.... I'm really not sure.

Might want to wait a bit.

The curado has the worm shaft bearing and the citica does not. I have both and the citica is great. But the curado is soooooo smoth in retreive. I would not of cared before I got the curado just  becasue, but  I love the citica and when I got to use them side by side and seen what a difference, I catch myself using the curado more. That combo deal at BPS is a great deal. Also how often do you fish? If you fish atleast once a week I would go curado for longevity resaons only other wise get the combo and spend the extra on lures. Just my opinion.

Good Luck.

If your just a weekend angler like me than there is nothing wrong with the Citicas at all. I love them! My Citica 200D and 200dpv are my favorite so far. Like my Citica 100dsv but for some reason it doesn't feel as smooth as my 200s. Could be because the 100 does not have the HEG gearing like the 200s do.

Also, it has 2 bearings less than the 200 size.

I thought it was just one bearing?

Well I guess that's the reason then!  ;D

Went to Gander today and compared them side by side. The Curado, Chronarch, Calais, and Core seem to be what I am looking for. The Citica 100 was just not smooth enough and the spool was barely the width of my thumb. I fish almost daily so it looks like I need to pass on the Citica. I also checked out the Steez, and even though I can't see myself buying something besides Shimano, that would definitely be the one if I did.
