Need a little help

Featured Replies

Im planning on buying a new rod reel set up. I am planning on buying one nice setup at a time to slowly replace my moderate grade combos. I plan on using it mostly for worm fishing, jigs, and flukes. I was leaning towards a Curado with a Carrot Stick , but after all the rave reviews about the Revo I am considering those also. If it where you what would you buy ? If you dont mind also throw in what gear ratio you would get for this set up. Thanks  :)

Welcome aboard!

You will be happy with either reel. I have been fishing Shimanos for a few years and have never been disappointed.

I love my curado, I have it in the 101 version (small lefty 6:2:1). Though I haven't tried using a revo yet, I have seen many good reviews on them here so I don't think you could go wrong with either one of those.

PS: the rebate for the curado sweetens the deal also, but it ends april 30th.

I'll give you the same advice I do everyone. When you are spending $150 and over, you are going to get a quality reel. It all comes down to personal preference. Go to the store and handle a few and buy the one that YOU like best. Get something that YOU are going to be happy with. After all YOU are the one who is going to be using it, and YOU are the one paying for it.

Thanks for all the help guys. OK I think I'm going to go with the curado  and a 6'6 carrot stick. This may be a dumb question but is the 6.3.1 the correct gear ratio for me to purchase. If thats right do you guys know what model that would be. THANKS SO MUCH :)

You will never be upset with the 6.3:1 gear ratio for worm rods.  The only time you go slower is for cranks (and that is debatable) and the only time you go faster is for buzzbaits or flipping (debatable as well).
