sorry forgot to put that. spinning

no problem I Live and fish Illinois as well and for the same kind of fish.

I have and would have to recommend St. croix premier 6'6" medlight

think its 90ish bucks but you could just get med power as I do have one in med as well and awsome rods

I hear a lot of good stuff from some Fenwick form the locals HMX for the price range of $89 or so

but amazon has them always cheaper and TW will price match

I am super impressed with the quantum Energy PT split grip rods. They are very underrated and Lifetime warranty. $100

I also use a lot of the Woo Daves Bass Pro Extreme rods and absolutely love them as well. Plus they are on sale!

i am pretty sure i am going to go between the st croix premier or the fenwick hmg. im nto for sure yet though and ony other suggestions would help. thanks for all the help already

I have a Fenwick Techna AV and I think my Browning Midas (boron) is in the same league. You might check out the Midas while last years model are on sale at BPS for $80.  I have the 6'6" S-piece.  Light and sensitive.  You might want to move up MH if you were to use 1/2 oz spinner baits or do a lot of jig fishing.  Cheers

However, HMG from Amazon (price matched from TW) is a safe bet with a lifetime warranty.

Cheers  :)

Will the premier be sensitive enough to do most types of fishing while being able to pull in bass walleye or the occasional catfish. haha.?or will the feniwick hmg be better?also has anyone used one of the airrus co-matrix 457 rods? or the american rodsmiths team series rods? thanks
