I Like Limp...Tried Yozuri Ultrasoft

Featured Replies

& I can tell you that this is some really good stuff! I spooled 8 lbs clear on my Saros 2500 & used my new Cumara 6'8" MH spinning rod.

I know the Cumara had alot to do w/ the sensitivity but the Ultrasoft had a big part in it as well. Last week I was inquiring about 8 lb P-Line for spinning reels & I'm glad I didn't use that.

The Ultrasoft casted great & I didn't get any line on the spool wanting to jump off the spool. It didn't have as much stretch as other floro coated lines that I've tried before. The coils were much softer coming off the spool too.

I also bought the 6 lb Ultrasoft & will be spooling my smaller reels w/ this great line.

Now I'm thinking of getting some 12 & 15 lb spools for my baitcasters. I've mostly used braid cuz I like how well I can feel what's going on w/ a lure. I think w/ the Ultrasoft, the feel is there too.

Good-bye P-Line.... :'(

The 12lb. is great on a baitcaster! Caught a 7lb 14oz (PB) last week and the "no stretch" was such a surprise. Have always used mono and just wasn't ready for how well it handles the hook set...

I forgot to mention that Ultrasoft floats well too.  I used some poppers & no problems working the lure!

Awesome! Where did you buy it? Locally, I can only seem to find the standard Yozuri.

I can not find it locally. I order mine through Cabela's.

Spray some KVD L & L on the Ultra Soft the day before you go out. It will behave even better. You will be amazed.

I think you will like #6 better than #8 on spinning tackle. The difference in absolute strength is nominal, but the #6 is more manageable.

You will notice some initial coiling due to storage on the spool. After a few casts this will disappear. As Ronnie suggested, treat your line with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner and you will reduce the memory even further, very close to the limpness of braid.

I got the Regular formula Hybrid in 12 lbs for my baitcaster.  It has memory and is very stiff.

Any suggesttions, is the Ultrasoft that much better. I got 600 yards of this stuff so I won't be switching out soon, don't want to waste it?

Super stroing though... :)

Ultra Soft is significantly softer. However, if you apply KVD Line & Lure Conditioner to the Hybrid you have, it will soften the line and make it far more manageable.

Never used the regular Hybrid, can't really comment on the difference. I don't consider the UltraSoft stiff at all. The KVD conditioner does help...

Bought the 600 yd spools through Cabelas.  If you do get the Ultrasoft don't get the mint green colored line.  I had some of this & it like a neon light underwater.

The clear is the better of the 2 colors.

For the first time, I am having a lot of trouble finding in my area (SE WI).  Our local Gander Mnt's have stopped stocking it altogether, BPS too, and Cabelas only has the moss green.  This has never been a problem before.   >:)

Cabela's website is showing the clear.  Check the closeout bins at your Gander Mountains.  I picked up 4 spools the other day at the Brainerd, MN Gander.

Our GM's are all out.  Unfortunately, by the time I found out they only had 4lb left.  I picked some up for my crappie/gill rods.  I'll check Cabela's site.  Thanks.  :)
