Revo S vs. SX

Featured Replies

Ok thinking about buying either an S or an SX with my next rod my rod is an Jmiles custom 7'3" carolina/football head rod which reel should I use?

i own the sx and stx. i personally do not like the sx. i posted a question regarding the sx last week and found that a lot of people agree. Most said they either buy the s or stx and skip the sx all together. My post was titled revo sx vs stx if you would like to see the comments. Good luck.

I just don't see a place for the SX anymore.  I have two, like them, and won't give them up.  But I won't buy another.

You can get the S for under $100, and the STX for just a few bucks over the SX is you shop hard enough.

I'm still betting Abu is going to lower the price of the STX if Shimano comes out with a new Curado in the $150 range.

I'd go with the S, or save a few more buck and buy a new STX off ebay.

BTW, the more I use my STX (and SX and SC), the more I think I was wrong about saying the brake was not very effective.  I've been using them a lot lately to cast lighter baits and am more and more impressed by the brake.

BTW, the Revo SC exclusively sold by Cabelas is a really, really good reel.  I have two of these, too.  Both are mounted on All Star American Classic 6'8" MH/F (AC SBR2).  The SC is essentially an S with the magnetic brake of the SX.  The SC perforns very well and and I can get phenominally long casts on my rod with baits 3/8 oz and up.  It's priced between the SC and the SX.  (I got mine when they first came out for $79 each :))
