Guys that like it, love braid. The rest of us hate the line. There are a variety of issues, so maybe it works just fine for you, but not for others. However, if I recall, you fish mainly from the bank. If that's the case, braid is probably not for you unless you start fishing $40+ swimbaits. Braid is very difficult to break, which is not always a good thing.

Braid has a place like most any other tool in fishing.

For me, it's mandatory for fishing frogs, b/c of the lack of stretch and ability to cut through grass.

Other application I use it for is flipping heavy mats for the same reasons above.

It is not a great choice in really clear water, but looks like that's an issue for you.
