Best overall Line

Recommended Posts

I am trying a new line and am open for ideas ive been using mono tied to superline.  I want another line that isnt a type of braid.  What do you think is best flouro, mono, copolymer etc... and what brands.  I will be putting it on a baitcaster.

I recommend Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test). This is a bonded (not coated) fluorocarbon/ nylon copolymer. The line is highly abrasion resistant and in use, has virtually no memory. Ultra Soft is impervious to water and UV light, never gets old, and it floats!

PLine CXX

Trilene XT or XL

Trilene 100% Flouro

And break strength isn't the same as pound test.  ::(

isnt ultra soft more for spinning gear.

Ultra Soft was designed with spinning tackle in mind because

of the issues surrounding memory. I don't like memory when

using baitcasting equipment either.

For spinning gear, I recommend Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test).

I fished P-Line CXX before moving to Yo-Zuri.

It's strong and tough, but has a lot of memory,

especially in cold weather. Their Floroclear is a

fluorocarbon coated line. It broke ocassionally

while casting which I found unacceptable and

lost confidence in the line.

Is there THAT much of a difference between Yo-Zuri regular and ultra soft? The only place around here that sells Yo-Zuri is Sports Authority, and they don't have ultra soft. I plan on using it for a baitcaster.
