Convert old reel to instant anti-reverse?

I have several older spinning reels (late 1990's?) that came out before instant anti-reverse. They are in great shape but feel archaic when I use them on a trip with other newer reels that do have instant AR. Is it possible to convert them, cheaper than buying another reel? Is it just the roller bearing? Are those available to do this?
