spinning reel choice

Featured Replies

im just about to send a fellow BR member some $$$ for an Avid spinner.....the rod will come with a reel but I'm considering an upgrade in the near future. My buget sits about $150 to $200, I know Shimano has high quality stuff, but Im not a sheep,  but rather a shepard. Anythoughts.

Stradic 2500FI

This new version of an old classic incorporates many of the features

that were previously available only in the Shimano Stella. I think you

will be amazed by this reel. The Stradic was awarded the 2007 ICAST

"Best In Category".

If buying Shimano reels makes you a sheep then all I can say is...baaaa.

If you have $200 to spend on a spinning reel, add $20 and get a Sustain at BPS on sale $40 off. You will be one happy freakin sheep. I guarantee it! JMHO

I would look at the Abu Garcia 800 series reels. They have the carbon matrix drag which is unmatched, corosion resistant bearings, and extra thick bail.

I just bought 2 of the 700s and love them. I am taking them to the gulf Friday to try out some redfishing... Another bonus is they can be used in saltwater. Give them a look.
