Need to upgrade my spinnerbait rod...

Recommended Posts

I need a rod, preferably 6'6" MH with a 1/4-1oz lure rating. Im not sure why but its really hard to find. I know Quantum has one but it didnt look like it was very good quality. Any price range will work, and you can comment on the ones Im finding, thanks.

Ill add stuff I find here as I look some more...

12-20 LB

1/4-1 OZ 6'6" H American Rodsmiths HG42® Graphite Series Trigger Rods

10-25 LB

3/16-1 OZ 6'6'' MH American Rodsmiths® David Fritts H3 Titanium Trigger Rods

Diawa Steez and TD-S both have one...

I use a Falcon Lowrider 6'6" MH fast action.

The lure rating is 1/4-3/4 though.  :-/

Really does a great job though chucking spinnerbaits. I don't go over 1/2 ounce for my SBs so this rod is perfect for me at a good price. Paid 109 for it I believe.

Thanks man. Ive been using a Fenwick M with the same lure weights. It rattles my brains out when I throw stuff that vibrates a lot though. A glass rod would probably be pretty good.

I have exactly what you are looking for, the St. Croix Legend Elite, EC70MHF:

Mine is matched with a Shimano Calais 200. In addition to spinnerbaits, this is the

rod I use to fish Mattlures Baby Bass.

Then you would like this rod. For moving baits I don't like a super expensive setup. This rod has a good feel at a good price.

I've thrown some larger profile 1/2 ounce spinnerbaits with no killer vibration at all coming down the blank. Just enough to "feel" whats going on. Check them out.

It's the Herm Special. Tells you a little bit about it as well. Seriously it's worth a good look for a spinnerbait rod.

The kid specifies 6'6 and you throw out a 7' rod? ::)

The term he used was "preferably".  7' is a better length for this application, longer casts and more forceful hooksets. However, the rod is also offered in a 6 1/2' version, EC66MHF, and is listed on the same webpage I posted.

:;)

Ill check those out. Im scanning everything over on bass pro right now.

Look at the link in my last post. Wasn't sure if you caught my edit or not.

Free shipping...no tax.

Bass pro is a waste of time with there shipping charges, taxes, and rod shipping fees.

Gotcha. I might try the Croix though Ive heard a lot about them. Ill research them forever before I pick something. 340.00 vs 109.00 is a pretty big gap though.

Right now Im at work answering phones and copying stuff for 8.00 an hour because the part time secretary is out so I should have enough money soon.

If money is not an issue than by all means go with the higher end rods. Can't go wrong with St Croix. The Avids and Legends are very nice.   8-)
