help with swimbait

Featured Replies

Need a little help from you west coast guys. I have been dealing with some really clear water conditions lately. I'm thinking of trying some swimbaits,  but I really don't know what I should try first. The lake I have been fishing is only 8 to 10 feet at it's deepest, has all sorts of stucture. There is a healthy shad population and I have been using all the typical fall lures[traps, spinnerbaits, etc.] with little success. I feel like swimbaits might be the answer, what do yall think?

I"m very new to swimbaits, but the first SB I was throwing was the 316 mighty minnow.  Great little bait for the money.  it's a soft bait around 4-5 inches long.

If you try Strike King King Shads, let me know how they work.  They are a little expensive - $20 a piece.  My plan is to try them in one of my very clear lakes which is loaded with Striped Bass.   I'm impressed with how they are built.  They are getting excellent reviews.

Micropterus, kvd said that it was a killer swimbait for smallmouth. I think its better swimbait because it can move at faster speeds, which most of the others swimbaits can't.

Yeah, I haven't found them at BPS, either (haven't checked their website).  I bought mine at a locally owned tackle shop.
