Okuma Reels

Who has them?  What models?  Thoughts on them?

I was looking at the VSystem spinning reels and they look and feel extremely nice.  They are incredibly smooth and the fit and finish is top-notch.   I'm just wondering why we don't see more on them.

I found an older TackleTour review.  Gotta admit, it's tough to get OVER 9.0 on one of their reviews (even under the old rating system).

I have an older Avenger (lower end when the first came out about $20) my son uses it.  Solid reel no problems.  A lot of tackle shops use them now as a "house reel."   I've heard to stay clear of the baitcasters.  No first hand experience though.  I've been told that the V Series are top notch.  From what I understand Okuma is one of those companies that used to make reels for everyone else then,  took the plunge into the market for themselves.

There spinning reels are excelent reels. There baitcast reels are the worst reels out there. I owned both and I say "owned" becouse after using the baitcaster I brought it back after two weeks and got my $150 back.

I have a VS-20, IS-20, IS-40, and EF-20A and I love every one of them. I've had a couple of them for almost five years and they have never given me any trouble. The IS-40 I use a couple times a year in salt water and it's still running strong. Get them off ebay and save a bundle.
