Bass Pro Shop Broken Rod

Featured Replies

For what it's woth here's what I found out

I am in chicago on business. I broke a BPS rod ( probably my fault ). It was a rod I bought used and didn't have a receipt for. I took it into Bass Pro shops in Bolingbrook on my way up to Chicago. When I handed them the rod they were kind of whispering back and forth.

After a few questions and stern looks they asked me how it happened. I explained I wasn't 100% sure. They also asked me how old it was which I had no idea.

They said only Johnny Morris rods have a lifetime guarantee but that all rods used to have lifetime. They said the official rule is 1yr on all other rods. They said the rule changed fairly recently due to increased rod costs. They then proceeded to tell me to go ahead and get one which I hurredly did.

That's what I know so use the info as you wish. Keep in mind this is just one BPS location so it "might " very from one to another.

I bet houskeeping is wondering why I have a fishing pole in my motel room!

For that wisecrack I'm going to put a great big target on your front door. In the center of the target I'm going to velcro a Redsox hat!

PS  got to give you credit that was a good one. You must be a peeping tom though as I did go shopping for the wife and did buy her a dress   :) ????

I had a similar experience. I've replaced 3 extreme rods from BPS. There is a letter/number code after the description that tells the date of manufacture. The only time I had an issue was with a 3 or 4 year old rod (had different styling and I think was a few million modules less then the current) and they explained the same thing to me. Told me there is only a year warranty, but they replaced it for me anyway. Overall you can't beat that.
