Just thought about this, you think that the parabolic bend will work for drop shotting?

I notice w/ drop shot rods either spinning or baitcast, they are more like a medium light power, so makes me think if I can use my 6'9" parabolic b/c rod for drop shotting.  And the medium power, light action action of the Carrot Stix Parabolic rod seems to be similar to a drop shot rod.

I'll probably give it a shot tomorrow...just wondering before then.

I dont know man. Personally I really like an ex-fast action, whether it be L, ML, or M. I seem to have a problem with feel with a slower action rod.

I think the only way to really know is to try it. I think it will work fine.

From what I've seen, fourbizz is right about DS rods having F and EF actions from some of the big players. However, my DS rod from Lamiglas is a ML powered rod with a Moderate Fast action so I know that set up works. I rarely miss on the hookup if ever and I always know when I get the nibble. It's almost not fair for the fish with this rod.

I think the tip is to slow for DS....

Most all DS rods I have built are Med to MedLight powered rods with fast to extra fast tip actions. The parabolic power rods (rods that bend well into the middle of the blank) are way to soft in the tip action (moderate or slower) for the quick hookup needed...Better suited for cranks...

Your thought process is way off on this one. Fast or x-fast is what you need for DS.

The king of the DS in the Northeast uses a moderate rod.  He does just fine with it: http://www.richz.com/fishing/articles/dropshot.html.  I personally belong to the x-fast camp, and use a Kistler DS rod.  I can see a moderate taper working in open water, but so much of my fishing this rig is in finesse mode, just on the edge or in the deeper weed edge.  You need some backbone there.
