what line for swimbaits

Featured Replies

ok guys i just bought the jackall mikey jr swimbait to try out this weekend. what type of line do you use with swimbaits? braid? mono? or fluoro? thanks. and what size?

Wake baits get mono, sinkers get braid.

I have 17 lb big game on my Revo stx.  Works great so far, cheap too

The same line I use for almost everything: Trilene Big Game, for swimbaiting 17 lbs test.

17 will work for small baits

2-4 ozs- 20lb CXX

4-7 ozs- 25lb CXX

7-15ozs- 30lb CXX

Very, very rarely I will use braid with a Mission Fish, but only if fishing way back in the tulies.

A.K.A. one size down from rope.

But catching the potential world record I would too.

heres what tackletour had to say:

SB Rod Wars Fishing Line Summary

Product

Comments

Fluorocarbon

Good for bottom bouncing techniques but be leery of knot strength.

Copolymer

Good all around line choice.

Nylon Mono

Good all around choice for mid and topwater techniques where the stretch is beneficial.

SuperLines (Braid)

Good for topwater techniques.

I use P-Line Evolution 15-25 lbs, according to lure's weight but my heaviest is 6 oz.

Tackle Tour is only expressing the opinion of the person writing the review, to that person it works that way, it ain 't the gospel, it 's just his opinion, in other words, you have to try with several until you find the one that tickles your fancy.

never said it was the almighty written word of the bible...

just passing along info

I use P-Line Evolution .

Me 2.

I used CX and CXX but I cant stand how it manages even tho its ridiculously strong.  I do use big game occasionally as well but it gets changed out often.
