reel storage.

Featured Replies

After you go fishing what do you guys do with your baitcasting reels? how do you store them? how do you clean them?

Durin the season I put mine in a vertical rod rack in the basement..in the off season I remove all of the line and fully loosen the drag so it does not fuse together

Wipe them down if I have to, and back the drag off all the way. That's it.  8-)

Off season doesn't exist for me. ;D

I back off the drag after every trip. Anytime I'm not using it the drag is loose. That protects if from getting draglock. Otherwise I just wipe it down if it's dirty, which isn't much dirt cause I mostly fish from a boat. For storing them until the next trip I just lean them in a corner, which I know for most is a cardinal sin cause the rod is under pressure. My rods aren't that costly though. When I get the Shimano Compre's I want I'll have to come up with anther solution. I plan to build a rod rack, or just buy one. I know you're wanting a Daiwa Zillion rod..........DON'T LEAN IT IN THE CORNER!! :)  :D

during the season i keep them in the boat which is parked in the garage under the house so they are not exposed to heat.  in the offseason i lay them on the front deck of the boat and cover the reels to keep any dust off of it along with anything else that may be subject to getting on the reels
