Can anyone give me feedback on my purchase?

Featured Replies

Bought a reel New On Ebay . Its a Master 165 made by Penn. Tiny little baitcaster. I personally like it,and its compact size. Havent used it yet and wanted to know if this reel is any good.

Line capacity is:

4/270

8/160

10/150

12/100

So you can see this is a light duty reel. Its all metal, which I like. What kind of applications would this be good for?

What's the gear ratio?  I would think it would be a very good swimbait /jig/spinnerbait reel.

Retrieve ratio is 5.6:1

Yes.  I prefer Pepsi to Coke, too.  Good pick.

Well I guess you all live by the old Moniker "If you aint got nothing nice to say...Dont say anything at all.

I only put the Pepsi can there for size comapison, for those that didnt know.

Personally ive never even heard of the reel. But i know some others that use different Penn reels and they love them. Honestly i cant remember anything bad being said about a Penn reel.

Only one way to find out man, just go out and use er!

Sorry, just a lame attempt at humor.

Do what Catfishsays.  Give it whirl.

Penn makes reels, but also puts their name on reels made by OEM manufacturers.   I've never heard of that particular reel, but that doesn't mean it's a bad reel.  Looks like is has a nice frame, and is decidely Abu Garcia Morrum "looking."  It's not a Morrum for that price, but it could be a great little reel.  You won't know until you try it.
