Eliminate line or knot breakage

Featured Replies

What is the strongest knot for fishing jigs and texas style worms?  I always tie Palomar knots on 12 lb test line when fishing a baitcaster.  I hate piercing fish with worthless jewelry. Has anyone tried the commercial line glues for knots?

Palomar is the simplest & strongest knot you can tie  :)

Palomar . Never used glue , no need.

If you are concerned with "piercing fish with worthless jewelry" maybe you should use a heavier line and learn to tie knots correctly. Glue won't make up for a poor knot.

Tie the palomar and set your drag correctly.

Palomar all the way.

Later, :)

As the others have said, tie the palomar and make sure your drag is set properly! If you're fishing heavy cover you may want to consider moving up to a heaiver line also.

The only knot, that I know of, that has a stronger knot strength than the palomar is the jansik special. It takes longer to tie and I use it for musky fishing only.

I've seen anglers on TV shows using what they called a loop knot. They say it illiminates the use of a split ring and allows the lure to act natural. Does anyone use this knot and can someone show me how to tie it? :)
