Just a heads up to the Daiwa guys

Featured Replies

I just saw on *** that all of Daiwa products will be going up Jan. 1.  Some as much as $100.

Let the stampede begin!

I guess I am not getting another zillion reel >;)

I wonder why they are doing that :-?

Thanks.

I don't get it though, are Daiwa's costs more than any other company?

Are other companies going to follow suit and raise their prices :-/

All of them are raising their prices if you haven't noticed.

Loomis rods will also be going up to after Jan 1 according to newsletter I received from American Legacy. >;)

Graphite and crabon went up and Fuji likes to raise their prices 10-15% a year it seems  :-? Our rods went up this year because of this too.

I wonder if everyone is raising their prices, or just Tackle Warehouse.  Tackle Warehouse already raised all their Daiwa products to the 'new price' about 2 months ago, and they went back to normal very quickly (I imagine nobody bought any of them).  That is why the normal daiwa reel prices were in the 'sale' section for a while, because they lowered them back down.  Most everything went up $20-$30.  I'm not sure what $100 increase they are talking about.  Basically, the Zillions were $269, Fuego was $249.99, Sol $249.99, etc.  To be honest, even with free shipping; I think you are a fool to buy a reel from a major retailer.  You can buy any reel from a reputable ebay seller for much less than retail.  I bought both of my Anniversary Zillions for $260 shipped, and you can buy regular zillions on ebay for $199 all day long.

Didnt shimano lower their prices on the curado????  ;D  :;)

Hey Natural, whats the difference between the anniversery and regular zillion? Besides the paint scheme?

Handle bearings, and a few extra holes drilled in the spool.   The regular Zillion is so smooth, the 4 handle bearings don't make a huge difference.  I haven't casted them yet, so I'm not sure if the casting will be noticeably better or not.  I bought it because I wanted another zillion, and the red looked nice  :)

the red one is a 7:3:1 and the old zillion is 7:1 gear ratio

A week or two ago I saw a 50th Zillion go for $154 and change, but unfortunately it was a righty.  I couldn't believe it, someone really lucked out.

Glad I got my stuff before the new year then!  I have the anniversary edition and have used my brother in law's 7.1 and I love them both.  The anniversary casts just a little better, and the retrieve is a little faster and a hair smoother to me, not to mention the paint job is sweet.  My favorite reel, hands down!
