Who constructs the BPS Johnny Morris Limited series baitcast reel, it looks like shimano to me because of the side plate braking system, like what's on a curado, and a Shimano Core 100MG.

What do you think?

The last I heard Pfleuger had the BPS contract though it may have changed since my info is a year old.

the sideplate latch looks like a pflueger cue to me.

What's the new Pflueg called?

Pull the crank plate off a Pflueger Patriarch and a Revo and they look identical. Most of the parts are interchangeable. Pull the crankplate off a JM signature reel and you'll find the same thing. Only very, very minor differences.

As to who makes this one?  The styling is similar to the older Clunn series RC 1000 series though a little more streamlined.  BPS previously was selling (giving away via promotions) a Johnny Morris reel, the JMP, which had 10 bearings, no metallic finish and only a 6 pin centrifugal brake system.  This would seem to be a remake of that reel.  

How old is this reel?  It's a years several years old.  I note it has a swept handle.

Silstar manufactures pflueger, BPS, Browning, and a couple of others.

I was referring to the business side of the reels (crank plate side).

I disassembled a Revo S and my Patriarch on Saturday. (BTW, a Summit is virtually the same as a Patriarch) Removed the main and pinion gears along with the drag stacks and swapped them.

Perfect fit.

The only difference was the Pflueger drive gear is aluminum vs. the brass Revo gear. This got me to thinking, Garcia has a 5.4 gear set available if you want to downgrade the speeds on the Revo's. 5Basslimit had a couple of his reels done that way. I'm going to get the part numbers and change a couple patriarchs to the slower speed to use for cranking.

Another thing.  While I don't have a good way to measure drag pressure (I used a electronic fish scale)  I was able to gain 2 extra pounds of drag pressure by inserting one of the Revo washers from the upper part of the main shaft (on the outside of the roller bearing) onto the Patriarch.  It did make putting the handle back on a little more interesting but it worked.

The JM reels are also extremely close, mechanically to the other 2 reels. The drive gear on the JM reel though is slightly larger in diameter.  They also use a slightly different re-engage method with a spring mounting than the other 2.

BTW, the other side of the Garcia/Pflueger reels is where the big difference lies.

Spool swapping isn't possible since the Pflueger's have 2 different spool widths. I thought about trying to swap the "el-cheapo" Revo S centrifugal brakes with the Patriarch brakes but it just won't happen. There are differences in the spool ends that make that impossible.
