Loomis recommendations

Recommended Posts

the bcr "4" power is an excellent rod for 1/2 oz. jigs and heavy cover...it easily replaced the mbr 844 for that purpose in my arsenal.

for 3/8 oz. and more open water, i tend to go with the bcr "3" power...tho i know some guys use the "3" in heavy cover with no problem.

a lot of it would depend on the type of water and cover in your lakes...a lot of it would depend on pure preference.

The BCR874 will make a fine jig and soft plastics rod.

I too am a GLoomis lover and have many. I own the BCR874, BCR853, and the 894 flippin stick. The new GLX series has a little different bend profile than the original 843, 844, etc. The new series is a little stiffer and all of them seem to have more backbone for the same power rating. The 874 you ask about i do use primarily as a Carolina rig rod but could be used for heavier stuff. The 3 power in this series is my workhorse and throw Senko's, TxRig, Jigs, you name it. Probably my favorite 2 rods.
