I am planning on buying a new reel and rod for crankbaiting.  I cannot choose between the Revo winch or curado 200E5.  Both are a 5.4:1 gear ratio (or something like dat) If anyone has ever used or has both i would appreciate any feedback

I owned a Curado 200DPV 5.0:1 reel, which I think has the same spool as the E5.  The Curado casts light and medium cranks very well.  It was smooth with an adequate drag.

I also owned a Winch.  It was just as smooth, and very well made.  It had a deep spool and held a lot of line.  It cast medium and heavy cranks very far.  The drag is great - more than you will need.

Depending on what you will be primarily casting, either can be a good reel.  I'd go with the Curado if I was just casting 1/4-1/2 oz baits, and the Winch for baits 1/2 oz and over.

In the end, I wasn't really satisfied with either reel.   I sold them both.  I've now got my sights on a Zillion 4.9:1 reel.

an a side note the DT-Sol is worth a look. its currently my fav, piece.

Yea i would love the zillion but i would like to keep it under $200 (heck i dont even want to spend that) Right now i think im leaning more towards the curado.  But man i love abu and ive never owned a shimano so i think i may give em a shot.

Ain't that the truth. I bet 1/4 of my tackle purchases on fleabay have been because I couldn't stand to see someone else get the item so cheap.

The Winch is 5.4:1, the E5 is 5.0:1.

No experience with the Winch, but the E5 does well with everything I've thrown.  That ranges from small light Zoom balsa cranks to DD22's and 3/4 oz. Hot Lips.

They were both designed for cranking, and from everything I can tell about them they are fairly comparable in most every way besides the gear ratio.  

yea and price.  The curado is i think $30 cheaper.  Also Abu is giving you a pair of wiley x sunglasses (it says $129 value) with the purchase of any revo over $159.  So thats making it even harder now.

Look at the results from the Shimano VS. Abu poll. I think that should be enough for a decision. The E7's are saweeeeettttt.

Yeah I'm going crazy with my reel purchase as well. I don't have a cranking reel yet. I would like one but I'd hate my most expensive reel as of yet to be so slow I can't use it for flipping and pitching or for top water. I'm looking at the Citica 200e ,Curado E5, Revo SX, and a Revo S. I played with the Citica E and Revo SX in store and the SX was tons smother. This nagged on me because I have a Diawa Megaforce and that thing is the opposite of smooth and I end up loving it when I can go to my dicks brand Field in stream reel that has 10BB in it. So I'd hate to spend 100$ on a reel that I hate to use. On the other hand I prefer the centrifuse brake system over magnetic ones. I have a abu garcia Silvermax and I do like it a fair amount but it's spool comes close to backlashing on me a fair amount. So basically I want a reel that can help with my pitching a flipping distance yet slow crank well and of course bast a mile and still land on a dime. ;D Oh lets not forget skip under docks like a dream! The other problem I have is the more I spend on a reel the less I have for a fish finder.
