I usually don't fish football jigs on braid. I like flurocarbon it has much better abrasion resistance, yes you lose a little senstivity and gain some stretch, but it is not been an issue for me.

I also use flouro for football jig fishing. I was always worried about the light wire used on football hooks flexing and bending (and not penetrating fully) on the hookset with braid and a mh or h action rod.

Interesting side note-last summer a fishing buddy and I were tossing footballs in 15-20 fow. I was using my standard set-up, 7 foot m/h fast action rod w/ 14lb flouro. He was using a 7'6" heavy action rod with 30 lb braid. He lost about 1/2 of the fish he had hooked. I didn't loose any. I really think he was overpowered and when setting the hook the wire was flexing too much and not penetrating properly.

He also broke 2 off on the hookset, braid just did not hold up well around rocky areas.

I fish a lot of football heads.  Where I fish there are lots of rocks and I can't fish braid w/o a leader.  I normally have a 4' fluro or mono leader.

I use 15lb P-Line Fluoro.  If I were going to use braid, it would be 20lb Power Pro with a 15lb flouro leader that is 3-4ft long.
