New Daiwa Zillion 4.9

Featured Replies

Anybody check out this new Daiwa 4.9 cranking reel?  Sounds pretty sweet, just saw the add in Bass times.  $269 though, think its worth it guys,  thinking about getting one.

I got one and I love it. Cast 3/8 to a ounce well. Smooth.

I have one in my sites, too.  I need a new cranking reel and am looking hard at this reel.

I really havent seen a daiwa reel yet that wasnt smooth as silk. Ive still got all my old millionaires and they are as good as new.

I picked up the JDM version last fall and really like it. I wonder if the US version has bearing supported knobs on the handle? The other U.S. version Zillions do not have this feature, at least they didn't when first released.

Neither of the two have bearings on the handle but they have 2 plastic bushings per knobs easily  changeable to bearings and pretty inexpensive, I have the JDM version, worth every penny, best reel I ever used for deep cranking.

Only the 50th and the  PE special have full bearings supported knobs.

i checked 'em out at the last sports show. man, oh, man...the high end daiwas just exude quality and the crazy cranker is gorgeous. if my wife wouldn't kill me first, i'd definitely get one. my shimanos and revos may work just as well (i love my curado Es) but the zillion looks and feels like something i'd get just to spoil myself. i think i'd probably end up babying it too much though  :)
