7:1:1 reels

Featured Replies

hey guys what do you use the 7's for? i was given one brand new (cabellas pro something lol) and i was gonna use it for buzz baits since you need a higher speed to keep them on top. what else can use that higher speed reel for? cranks? thanks guys

getting plastics back to the boat for the next cast.

you can cover a lotta ground in a very little time that way.

I use 7's for pitching jigs & soft plastics, burning a spinnerbait or a buzzbait and a carolina rig.

I have a friend who is a great crankbait fisherman and he uses a 7 gear ratio for that, but the norm for cranking is a 5 or lower.

nice thanks fellas... i guess you could milk the 7.1 slow enough to where the cranks arent skipping on top lol

A 7 ain't that much faster really.  It is a significant change but it wont skip a bait on the top of the water either.

You can really use a 7 for just about anything except deep crankbaiting.

Jigs, Beavers, ALL PLASTICS except finesse techniques, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, senkos, anything t-rigged, frogs.
