Has anyone used the shimano Tekota 500 for flipping or largemouth fishing?

I was thinking about a TEK500 and Teramar inshore heavy - extra fast for flippin.

If you're flippin for tuna.  

Seriously, it think it's WAY overkill.   Stick with something intended for bass.  

I do too.  It's just I have nothing in between a TD 135 and the TEK500 and wanted to do some flippin.  I figured if it would fit the bill..?

At least the weeds + bass would not be a problem. hehe.  Ya it is probably overkill.  But would it work?  25 lb mono, 7ft fast is what I keep hearing is needed.   Would a Curado 300 work in salt too?  I am looking for a versatile setup that would cover reds to LM bass?

Great set up for sailfish, not largemouth or redfish.

The tekota is a trolling reel with way more line capacity than you need and 18lb drag is real overkill. It isn't a b/c. Personally I favor a lever drag over a star if that large a reel is in your sights.

The terramer is a fine rod, however they make a west coast & an east coast series and the specs are different. Put the reel on the rod before buying.

You are wanting to fish 2 entirely types of fish. I'm not the most knowledgeable on using a b/c for flipping, I'm an inshore fisherman. I would put a quality 4000 spinning reel on a 7'6 8-17rod,12lb mono or 15# braid and that's good for about any inshore fish you'd come across.
