How are the crankin sticks?  I just bought three used ones all 6'6", two mediums and one mh.  Was looking at making one a jerkbait rod and one a shallow crank rod until I can afford to buy better rods.  Thanks

I've never used them, but IMO the BPS rods are a good value. Especially if you can get them on sale. They usually run a little heavy, and a little stiff....So keep that in mind. (OTOH The Elite is as light as anything cept' maybe a Carrot Stix)

The Johnny Morris, and Johnny Morris Elite are both great rods for the $$. They are the only ones I've looked at....and recently picked up a JM Elite.

Last year I picked one up for $ 39. not a bad rod for that kind of money! I like them for cranks,and topwaters.

Really the only crankin rods you need IMO...a great price for a great rod

How old are your rods...I have an 07 6'6'' M but hear the older models are much heavier

My take on BPS rods in general is that for the money and warranty you will not find a better rod! Plus the "power hump" handle fits like a glove.

I have 2 Gloomis rods that I absolutely love, and 10 BPS that I could never part with. When I go to purchase a new rod, I opt for BPS.

The crankin sticks are great, the 6'6" mh is a perfect choice for jerkbaits.

The only BPS rod I am not happy with is the Tourney Special.

I've owned crankin sticks in the past.  Of all the BPS rod lines, the crankin sticks are the best value going of the bunch.  You really wouldn't need to upgrade frankly.  Those rods have a great feel for crankbaits.  

I have one and it performs flawlessly.

I couple it with my Curado 200E5 and it is a nice setup.

BPS also stands behind their products so although I don't expect you to have any problems, if you do, you may have the opportunity to get a replacement.

Own two that I purchased last year, great rods, great sensitivity.  I don't think after using them that you will want or need to upgrade.  The heavier ones were made of glass, the newer ones are a composite that is much lighter.

I really like my BPS Crankin Stick in 7' ML...Coupled with a Curado 200 and some 10-12 lb. test mono it makes a great all-around crankbait combo.

Wonderful for the majority of my applications - 1/4 - 3/8 oz. shallow-medium divers, stickbaits, jerkbaits, traps, etc.

About the only applications I go elsewhere for in hardbaits is trap ripping (braid, heavier rod, faster reel), heavy cover shallow cranking (heavy mono, heavier rod, faster reel), and deep divers (flouro or medium mono, heavier rod, slow reel).

Why do these "crankin" sticks have fast/Xtra fast actions? I thought you want a moderate or medium action for cranks?

I have the 6'6 Fast and it actually seems to be more of a moderate-fast. I have never used a true moderate action crankbait rod, but I have used a lot of fast action ones. Fished side by side with a another fast action BPS rod and I can definitely tell a difference.

I find the BPS rods(Extreme, Bionic Blades etc) to be serviceable for soft plastics but I've stepped to Loomis rods for these applications and won't go back. However I own 3 Crankin' sticks and I have been very satisfied with them and I've seen no need to up spend more money for this type of rod. I also think they got the right action, enough give on the tip to keep your treble hooked fish buttoned but enough backbone for a good solid cast. This rod is an excellent value in my opinion.

I like the Crankin Sticks alot! Caught my personal best (7 lbs) with one. I match them up with a David Fritts cranking reel. Can't beat this combo for cranking IMHO

love them crank baits are my go to i fish my crankin sticks all day long not to heavy and the handles are great!

Awesome rods for the money! I have one that I use for deep crankin', and it's done a fine job ever since I bought it.
