My brother must have hit his head! He gave me a Fenwick HMG 7 'Spinning H action rod. I have so many rods now, not sure what to use it for! If it where you, what would you rig it for?

Rug beater/duster

You got me on this one.  I have no idea what you would use a 7' Heavy action spinning rod for.  If it was a casting rod I would say use it for pitching.

All kidding aside the tip on this rod is not too stiff, I was thinking big worms for deep water or a C-rig being that it is a spinning rod! :-?

What's the lure size on this rod?  Just curious as my father in-law is looking for a nice cat rod?

Looks like that is rated for 1/4 to 1-1/4. Maybe use it for big jigs???

When I was a kid, I was musky fishing before going to baitcasting.....My dad had me using the most god awefull heavy spinning setup EVER.....He talks about that now and says he feels bad for having me fish with that... ;D

This rod would be perfect for that......And if you don't find a use for it sell it on one of the Musky fishing forums 8-)

Get a 4000 size spinning reel, spool it up with #12 or #14, and use it for whatever you'd use a MH baitcaster for.

I don't like to make "general" statements, but, from what I've noticed, most companies spinning rods are rated heavier than a comparable baitcast rod. So, the power on your new stick just might be comparable to a MH baitcast rod.

I have a couple of friends who use a similar set up for pike and light duty musky fishing.  It's perfect for throwing big spoons.
