X2

its not worth it.Sure it will catch fish.Downsides are price and the fact that the blade catches and excessive amount of weeds and or debris on the water.I've also had it grab the ends of branches and twigs that a normal bait(cavitron)will go right over or through.

yeah thats what i thought about it too. i wasnt lookin to buy one, i was just wondering what you guys thought of it. i could see how a twig or something could go in one of the  "holes" in the blade and get stuck and ruin that cast.

x3 That blade design looks like it would do more bad then good.

I bought just one to try it out.  I have to crank it like mad to keep it on top where it's supposed to be, and I've never had so much as a sniff from a bass.  I give it two thumbs down.

thats kind of ironic because they said that the blade design is supposed to cause lift so it rides high easier. seems to me like thers not enough surface area on the blades to get it to lift.

Thanks a bunch, guys.

I started seeking out the Helix Buzzbait last summer and the only place that I found carrying them in Williamsburg, Virginia, was closed more than it was open so I never purchased the lure.

It does look different and I was thinking it would put out a different sound.

However, after what you all wrote, I will continue to use the Cavitrons.

You just can't beat a Cavitron!

I agree.  A Helix seems more of a "waking" bait.  No bubbling or burbling, just kind of a bulging wake from the blade.  Seems almost silent to me.  I can get the same thing from waking a spinnerbait....and catch more fish doing it.

What do you guys think of this one? http://fishbelly168.stores.yahoo.net/helixninjya.html

i think it looks weird...kinda looks like it wouldnt work. for 12 bucks it better be nice!

Funny you bring this up because I was about to start a thread about one of fishbelly's products, but I figured nobody ever used them.

Have you tried the kick-s shad from fishbelly? they sell them at my local shop and they are awful. They do not kick at all. I made a big mistake of buying 3 packs of the 5 inch before even testing them first. Swim tail does not swim.
