Is this a good deal?

I use Loomis but not the GL series.  I would venture to say that any of their fly rods under 100 bucks would be a good deal though.

g loomis gl2 fly rod 6wt used 2-3 times for $85? Would it work for smallmouth and trout?

Thats a good price. If you get it and dont like it, you can get your money back without a problem (maybe even make a few bucks). I have casted a GL2 5 weight before, the 6 isnt too different. A decent, responsive rod. They are worth the $180 retail or whatever, I would say jump on it at the price. Or PM me the info and I will.

a 6 weight is a good all around choice. You should be able to throw all but the the bulkiest hair bugs and heaviest baitfish imitators without too much effort for smallies (most of my smallie fishing happens with a Winston BIIMX 5 weight). Depending on the water you fish for trout, a 6 weight should be ok. Not an ideal rig for super spooky trout or gin clear water but you should be ok overall.

Cool I did end getting the rod, it is in great shape! Iam thinking of getting an orvis battenkill or a g loomis east fork  for the reel. Which would you suggest? I will be fishing streams small rivers and lakes. Any other ideas for reels would be great aswell. What kind of line should i go for?

I don't know about the loomis reel, but the Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock reel is a really sweet reel for the price.  I own one and it's been nothing less than great for me.  It's made completely out of bar stock aluminum and the drag on the reel is silky smooth.  I use it for double duty with trout and wipers. Like I said the drag is awesome. I've handled up to 10lb wipers with it (Not much fun on a 5wt though )

I guess what I'm trying to say is it's an awesome reel :D   On the line I personally like Rio Grand for floating line in a WF and Either Orvis wonderline or airflo sixth sense for sinking lines.
