Jerkbait rod ???
I sport a 6'0" Techna AV Medium Moderate for my jerkbaits and shallow cranks. I sure do love that rod

Inherited some nice vintage equipment...now what?
That Lamiglas rod is a steelhead rod. I have a rogue river and a certified pro Lamiglas steelhead spinning rod and they're pretty nice rods.

Fenwick feedback
I don't have a elite tech river runner rod Yet , but I do own quite a few fenwick rods ranging from small river flyrods, bass rods, to steelhead rods. In my opinon I think the HMG and the Techna AV rods are stellar and the old elite tech bass rods where quite nice as well.

Fenwick HMG
Micro, How do you like that Fenwick Elite tech rod? I've been eyeballing thier crankshaft rod for awhile now at my local sporting goods store. Needing a good cranking rod to throw med-deep cranks.

Fenwick HMG
That's interesting? The two newer HMG's I have ( 7 Ft casting and 7 ft spinning.) don't have any issues with the reel seat not locking down all the way. I've used various brands of reels with these rods. I wonder if that is common among these newer rods or not?

Fenwick HMG
I have the newer and older versions of the HMG. My opinion is that the newer model is better than the old. I like the new grip material better , it more grippy (if that makes sense.) and also like the reel seats they're using on their newer casting rods. As far as the guides, I like the alconites over the berkley SS3304's, or the Hardloy guides unless I'm using braid, in which I use my rod with the Berkley SS304's. I was alittle hesitant to purchase the newer model, but after using it I'm glad I did. As far as warranty goes I haven't had to use it and I hope your warranty issues get taken care of Thanks, Jacob

What kinda of rod would be Ideal for Throwing Chatter Type Baits?
That for all the replies. I found a commuity pond that isn't quite frozen and took a chatterbait and my 7ft ST Croix glass crankin rod and my 7 ft mh HMG to experiment. I think I'll be just fine using my HMG. Once again thanks for your help everyone

What kinda of rod would be Ideal for Throwing Chatter Type Baits?
I have just a genreral question about throwing chatter type baits. Do I want to use a rod with a slower tip like a crankbait rod, or would just a standard MH casting rod with a fast action be better? I'm interested in trying them out and don't know anyone around me that has used them before. Thanks, Jacob

Fenwick Elite Tech rods
I was about to go and pick up a new Fenwick HMG spinning rod and saw on tackle warehouse that they have the Elite Tech rods on sale for about $140.00. I own a couple older HMG'S and a couple HMX'S that I am quite pleased with. I honestly don't have alot of money, so I try to buy the best I can afford and was hoping on some input on these particular rods. Just wondering how they feel and if they're worth the extra money? I'm looking into Jig N' Worm rod or the Riggin' Stick. It would mostly be used for soft plastics in the 1/4 oz - 1/2 oz range. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Jacob

Anybody using or ever used Rogue Rods?
I own couple of them. The drop shot spinning rod w/ recoil guides and a flipping stick. They're very light and very sensitive. They're great rods.

What is the Most Sensitive Rod Money Can Buy?
You all might think I'm crazy, but I love my Fenwick HMG'S. I ended up getting rid of my legend tournament spinning rod and my rogue drop shot rod and replaced them with HMG rods becuase I liked the feel of them better. I haven't had the chance to use an upper echelon rod like the GLX, but I'm a firm believer in use what you have confidence in and I'm confident in my Fenwick's. Tight Lines, Jacob

Fenwick HMG
Yeah the two I bought where $69.97. My local Sportsmans is clearancing a ton of stuff. They have alot of lucky craft crankbaits on sale as well. Just wish my hours at work didn't get cut back so much. Kinda sucks working in aerospace in a recession

Fenwick HMG
I purchased a 6'6" medium power spinning rod awhile ago and absolutely love the rod and also ended up getting a 6' spinning rod a couple weeks ago. In all honesty I like it better than the compre I've owned and alittle better than my crucial I've got. Sensitivity wise I think they on par with the crucial I own. Where I live I've seen them as low as $69.97, so you might be able to find a good deal on them. As far as the Carbon Viel goes I'm really not sure what it is and the blanks are graphite. I think think the 7FT MH would be a great all around rod. Hope this helps. Jacob

Is this a good deal?
I don't know about the loomis reel, but the Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock reel is a really sweet reel for the price. I own one and it's been nothing less than great for me. It's made completely out of bar stock aluminum and the drag on the reel is silky smooth. I use it for double duty with trout and wipers. Like I said the drag is awesome. I've handled up to 10lb wipers with it (Not much fun on a 5wt though ) I guess what I'm trying to say is it's an awesome reel On the line I personally like Rio Grand for floating line in a WF and Either Orvis wonderline or airflo sixth sense for sinking lines.

Where to start...?
The above fly rods mentioned are great rods. I've owned many a flyrods from makers like Orvis,St croix, Temple Fork,Sage, Loomis, T&T,Redington and a few others. My personal Fav. is my 9' 5 WT. ST. Croix Legend ultra. That rod can throw some serious line. My local Sportsmans has them on sale for around $150.00, so maybe you can find one on sale. If you not looking into a large arbor reel, you might want to look at the Orvis Battenkill barstock reels. they're built out of aluminum bar stock and have excellent drags and can handle lots of abuse, also they're under $100.00. I hope this helps and tight lines!
