Top Water & Spinnerbait Rod's

Featured Replies

Just wondering if any of you use a fast or just a mod action for these two setups. I was just thinking that you wouldnt want a fast or extra on a topwater that way you would give the fish plenty of time to eat the bait. What is everyone's opinion on these two setups?

For tops and Spinnerbaits I use 6'6" to 7' med power with fast action tips, and have used some Medium Heavy...It's all in the rod/reel setup IMO.

Tight Lines!!!

My spinnerbait setup is a 7' MH power with a soft tip. I'll use this rod for buzzbaits as well. My top water rod for baits with trebles is a 6'6" M with a mod/fast tip.

I use a 6' 6" MH/F for top water and a 7' M/F for spinner baits.

Later, :)

I use two Setyr rods for topwater and spinnerbaits. Both are 6'6", both are fast action, one is medium power and one is med-heavy. Both have Daiwa Fuego reels.

The medium rod has #10 XL, and is used for smaller topwaters like Pop-R's, Jitterbugs, etc and spinnerbaits 3/8oz and under.

The MH rod has #12 XL and is for larger baits.

Both rods have what I consider the most important characteristic required for spinnerbaits and topwaters; a short handle.

would the 6'6 medium St Croix mojo be good for top water as poppers and smaller spooks?
