Looking for a casting rod

Featured Replies

This rod will be used for casting texas rigs, jigs, etc.....mostly 3/8oz

What rod length, weight and action do you suggest for this?

I have been using a 7' crankbait rod but the tip is to flimsy and makes it tough to make an accurate cast.  I don't know if a 6'6" rod would be better than 7' and i'm thinking MH fast action but wanted to get some input before I went any further.

Thanks

I use a St. Croix Avid 6' 6" MH/F rod.

Later, :)

I would say 7'MH....Had a 6'6'' MH rod but it felt like there was something to be desired from the 7'...If you go 6'6'' I would try out Medium...

If your fishing mostly open water, check out a 7' MH XF rod. If your casting to structure, and/or need casting room, a 6'6" MH XF rod would serve you well.
