What should I use a Core for?

Featured Replies

Any of you guys used one on a crank setup? Will it handle the larger crankbaits pretty well? Also is there a carrot stix gold cranking rod that would be good for 3/8 up to 3/4 oz. crankbaits, or should I just grab a loomis 845? thanks

I don't use mine for cranking mostly jigs and worms.  I did however see an In-Fisherman episode where they were throwing dt-20's on a Core.  So it can be done.

I baught a core and a cumara last year and used it for everything. It was awesome and never dissapointed me. It was rigged with 30lb powerpro. This year i will be using it for texas rigs, jigs, wacky rigging.

Anything you want!

Perfect Weight.  Perfect line capacity.  If the Core had handle bearings like they put on the aluminum version (Chronarch D) I'd own 4 or more of them.  My large hands fit perfectly around the Core.

I agree - the core is a fine all around reel.  and DEFINITELY go with the CBR 845 over the cs rod.  You'll be very glad you did...

thanks for the replies fellas, I've been away since I posted this. I'm thinking about picking one up on ebay.
