50mg. it's still my favorite.

I have ten of em and have only had one issue. I called and they told me to send them the rod. They had it back to me in a week no questions asked and didn't charge me a penny.

Ive got one of the new micro guide ones. I got the 7'6" flippin stick and I like it a lot. Light as a feather for a longer rod and plenty of power. Sensitivity is about middle of the road for it's price. I really like the color better on the new micro guide version as well. You will find a lot of people that love em because they're light weight and fairly sensitive and you will find people that hate them because they are kind of gimmicky. They also had a run of breakage issues but nobody I know personally has had a problem. I will also say that for the same price range the Dobyns savvy series comes with better components and is just as if not more sensitive. The savvy may weigh a little more but it balances so good you can't tell. The powell's are also great for that price range.

This is a tough decision. Either would do the the job great. The core will be lighter and easier to palm for throwing jerkbaits. The calais will be ultra smooth and to me has a better gear ratio for throwing those mid depth cranks. I don't think you will be disappointed in either but my vote goes to the calais just because I love that reel so much.

I use one for jerkbaits and medium diving cranks. It casts a mile and is the smoothest reel I've ever fished. It looks great too.

I have one of each. The 100 is on a dobyns 734c. I use that combo for big worms and plastics in more open water like ledges, humps, brush piles etc. I also throw some jigs on it but it's not my main jig rod. My 50 is on my dobyns 703 right now. I use it for pitching lighter plastics and swim jigs in shallower water. It's more of a pinpoint pitching setup for me. Both reels are great for all around use and can really do everything you need perfectly except deep cranking. The 50 really, really shines at pitching though.

Sounds like you may need to go with the graphite version of the 704. The glass 704 may be softer than your looking for. I was at the classic expo this weekend and that's where I got my 704. I felt the cumara discussed above and the two felt very similar to me. I also used to own a cbr 843 and this 704 feels really close in power and tip.

I'll be sure to report back. I also have a 705cb graphite with the mod/fast tip. I can tell you the 704 glass is a lot softer in the tip than my 705 graphite. Night and day difference. I can hold both rods and shake the tip up and down and the 704 moves probably a foot and a half where the 705 probably moves 8 inches or so. The 704 also feels a lot like the new cumara 7 foot medium moderate shallow cranking rod.

I just bought the 704 glass this weekend. I haven't got to use it yet so I can't really say how it performs for sure. It is soft in the tip though. It feels like it will be perfect for shallow cranks and 1/4 oz traps. I'll probably throw 1/2oz traps on it as well but not around cover. That would be the max weight I would throw on it. To me it feels a lot like the Loomis cbr 843. Maybe just a touch softer.

It's an awesome reel. Prices have come down a bit on em because they've been out a little while and everybody is buying the new 50 right now. The 100 is pretty much a lighter version of the chronarch. My d7 feels just a touch smoother than my core 100 though. I'm not really sure why.

Tackle Tour just did a review of the Lamiglas and gave it a nice review. Check it out. It's a sharp looking rod. Also Dobyns has the new Savvy series out starting at 150 I believe. Powell makes a nice rod as well starting at 139.

I think you would be fine with that. The e is a great little reel for the money. There are better options out there for cranking but the citica would work fine. It might feel slightly underpowered but it would probably be hardly noticeable. BTW you just sold me a glx.

Just how much are you lookin to spend? The okuma rods are pretty cheap and a lot of people love em. For a reel you could use just about any regular baitcaster for those size baits. An e7 would work pretty well as would a zillion. If you want to spend a little more pick up a used or new curado 300e off one of the forums and wait and find a used Dobyns 795. You can throw anything short of the biggest baits with this setup. The 300e/dobyns setup is what I have on the way. I've got about 350 in the whole setup and that's a heck of a price for that gear.

I think the 744 will do the trick. Have you looked at the champion series? I've got a lot of em and have been told the extreme is just slightly more sensitive. Anyway, i say get your two rods right now while the sale is going on and buy your reels off of the fishing boards. You can buy curados all day for 140 and sometimes cheaper.

Steezy, have you ever fished a legend extreme? Very comparable to a glx imo. They are just a touch tip heavy though.
