Citica E for Crankin

Featured Replies

Anybody use a Citica E for throwing cranks in the 8-14' range? Wondering if I can get away with it for now. Deepest diving would be a Fat Free Shad Jr. and DD14's. Majority would be Deep Little N's.

The reason I ask is because my cb rod doubles as a jerkbait rod and I don't know if I could throw jerkbaits on a 21 IPT reel.

Thanks guys.

I think you would be fine with that. The e is a great little reel for the money. There are better options out there for cranking but the citica would work fine. It might feel slightly underpowered but it would probably be hardly noticeable.   BTW you just sold me a glx. :)

LOL, I couldn't stand a 21 IPT for deep cranks.  You'll be fine.  All my treble hooked setups are 23-34 IPT (5.8:1).

Thanks guys. What's up Brad? Nice to see you over here as well. Now back to COD MW2. :)

That would be a great little cranking reel...

The Citica E is listed as 27 IPT. I use one for shallow to medium cranks with no problems.

My citica 200e is mounted on my BPS Extreme CB7MF rod and works fine for deep cranks.  It's my backup jerkbait rod as well (Curado 200e7/St. Croix Premiere 7MF is primary jerkbait combo).  12# YZ Ultrasoft line...

Great cranking reels for any depth. With HEG, I don't have any problems. I actually prefer a 6.3:1 for all of my cranking.
