Help me>>>>> Revo STX or SX

Featured Replies

I have been trying to decide which ABU to get. I'm not sure what the big differences in them are if any. Please let me know what you recommend and also if there is a certain rod that you seems works well with these let me know. I have a Revo S but i feel that i need some more room to adjust things.

-thanks B)

The only real difference in the two is that the Revo STX has the Infi II spool system. It is suppose to cast further but trust me it doesn't. I own a couple of each and i would highly urge you to save some $ and get the SX. As for the rod, that all depends on what you will be using it for.

I like the STX better. I think it was all in my head because when I first got an SX I had a heck of a time with that thing. I do agree that there really isn't much difference and that you are probably better off saving the money and spending it elsewhere. I've since gotten rid of both of them, but I just picked up an S the other day. I can't give you a comparison yet because it isn't even spooled and won't see water for about 2 more weeks anyways.

I think you'll be fine with the SX.

Welcome to the forums

I just got an STX and love it, havent tried the SX but they seem similar, if money isnt an issue go with the STX There is a left handed version in the flea market for $150 which is a steal

I had both. traded the sx in for more stx's. I had a horrible time casting the sx. the stx is so smooth.

have three sx reels and love them ,,,amazing how far they chunk a lure with minimal effort,,, i did learb though that they do work better when just kinda flipping my wrist instead of rearing back and slinging them......

The STX has a much nicer looking handle and a better spool then the SX.  With that said I have never tried the SX and have been told that there is very little if any difference in the two.  But for me I like the silver, handle and the better spool so I went with the STX.

The STX is very nice and very solid.  Can be a little touchy at times but overall and excellent reel.

For a rod depends entirely what you are going to do with the reel.

Mine has been dedicated to flipping and pitching duties due to the awesome drag and power the reel has.

My experience is that the STX and the SX perform equally on the water.  So go with the one that you think looks the best.

I have had both and still have a SX. I didnt see any difference in performance between the 2 reels.
