Is it good? im gunna put 12 lb XL smooth cast on it.
Sounds like you already purchased the reel... ;)
Can u tell me if the reel cast pretty far? 8 ball bearings.
That will depend on the rod, line, lure, and your casting abilities....There are only 2 bearings at most in the reel that control casting ability.

The rest help smooth cranking out......  :)

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!

my buddy had to bring 3 back because of grinding gear sounds and other various problems. i love the way they look and was going to buy one. he convinced me otherwise. so i bought a daiwa exelor instead and love it.

I have and fish with a Quantum Code and so far I'm very pleased with it. I will say though that when I was looking to get it I handled 3 of the exact same reel before I took the one I did. I've found that it doesn't matter which company you ultimately decide to support, whether it be Quantum, Shimano, Pflueger, Diawa, ect... They all tend to have bad reels that slip through quality control and it's always best to test them before you buy them. But the Code I now fish with is very smooth and does surprisingly well with lighter baits too. I've got 12 lb mono on it and have yet to catch a fish that will take out drag, so I can't say how smooth the drag is yet, but I hope that changes before the summer's out  8-)
