Cranking the brush

Featured Replies

What type of structure do u bounce your cranks off, and what structure should you stay away from? I find that big rocks, logs, and dock pilings to be the best. I dont like fishing tree tops and thick weeds, but i've seen some really good guys manage it and pull some really big bass out of there.

Opinions and thoughts welcome

I'm using homemades, with a metal lip and a white pine body, really tough, the metal on wood or rocks works just as good for me, mabey the fish are stupid. I've weighted them so they just barely start to float back to the surface so i make contact pause for about 5 secs then keep goin.

Just about everything.......obviously not matted veggies or the like.

Sloppy stuff is hard to work crankbaits around.

I bounce mine off anything I can stear them into. In fact I try to fish a crank that dives 10-15 ft. in shallower water so it will dig up the bottom if it is clay, gravel, or such.

I lost 1 crankbait all last year - - - you MUST learn how to use a good lure retriever or you'll go insane... :D

You got that right....especially when throwing the high dollar cranks. My lure retriever paid for itself after the 3rd or 4th save.
