Kistler Helium LTA?????

Featured Replies

Anyone here tried the Helium LTA rods? Specifically the 7' EX H/F(HE70XHC) model? How is the sensitivity, strength, tip stiffness on these rods?

THANKS

I handled that rod in a local BPS.  While can't answer your questions since I don't have practical experience fishing the rod, I noticed a few strange things...

Even with a Revo STX on the rod, it's still tip heavy.

I also found it strange that (although I have no actual proof) the cheaper Kistler MG series seemed lighter than the "lighter than air" LTA series

I am still hearing that Kistler has an issue with too thin a wall and breaking issues!?!

all rods are tip heavy to some degree.

Agreed.  But all the other rods I have (including a "lesser" Kistler MG) are MUCH more well balanced with a reel on it than the LTA/STX combo I handled in-store.

Should that by the only reason people should not get one?  Absolutely not.  I like Kistler rods, and I'm still seriously considering getting an LTA.

I haven't heard about any breaking issues.  Is that on this year's models?

Buy it and fish it.  If you like it, great.  If you don't like it, sell it.

Geez, SOGOTP.

I had to google that one!

Who are you hearing this from ?

I have 2 7' kistler LTA's and i love em!! One is a 70MF and the other is a 70 MHF. I cant say enough good things about them. U must be fishing some extremely heavy cover to need a heavy or better. I have put some serious strain on mine and they've taken every bit of it and asked for more. I cant recomend a better rod when it comes to strength, sesitivity, and weight.. Buy one you wont be disapointed. Or like others have said just buy it and if you dont like it someone else will.. Good Luck..
