Reel advice

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a shallow cranking reel and also a reel for jig fishing in mostly submerged timber, both baitcasters, anyone have a idea? Shimano preferably but daiwa are good to. I'M currently using the shimano core for both applications. Thanks in advance.

If you use a RH reel: Chronarch D5 for Cranking and D7 for jigging

If you use a LH reel: Daiwa Sol for Cranking and and "     "    "

Cool thanks, yes i forgot to mention that im LH.

I use both those listed;however, I am hoping Shimano comes out with a lefty D5 for a deep cranking reel. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

I use a curado for both apps.  The e7 doesn't see much action because I usually don't fish jigs from shore.  My e5, however, sees a lot of action and is probably the best cranking reel I have used for medium - deep cranks.  I also use a Daiwa Sol for shallow cranks and I love I for this application.

If you didn't specify lefty, I would suggest the Calcutta 50B for crankbait applications.

Otherwise, give the Calcutta 101B a look.
