Got a lightly used Daiwa Alphas 103 from eBay for $127.  Pics show slight boat rash but was said to be perfect mechanically.  So how do you think I did?

Was thinking about putting it on a mojo, I like things to match as close as possible, 7'M for tubes.

I reckon you did you good.  I eventually will get a JDM reel sometime...not sure when that will be.

That's quite a deal... I have a 103 R edition and I absolutely love it

Looks like u have a great deal there!

as long as it's in reliable mechanical condition, you did very well.  The Alphas is an excellent all around reel.

Never used a Daiwa BC, but that sure is one good looking reel. Sweet score.

It will make my second daiwa, the first is a Sol that I use for shallow cranks.

Just got it in today, only took 1 1/2 weeks not bad I guess from japan.  Took it out today on my bps pro qualifier and this thing is butter smooth.  Plan on fishing tubes so that's all I threw and it's going to be a great tube reel.  Cast 1/8 oz perfectly and 3/16 even better, main weight I use for tubes.b I actually feel like it's tighter than my sol, anyone know the real difference in the two?

Now the wait for the 7'm mojo, as soon as TW gets them i'll be set.

I owned two alphas for a couple of years....great reels. The alphas' represents the most copied reel design since the old round Abu's. Nearly every low profile reel that has come out in the last 5 years is influenced by the alphas/sol.
