5BL are there any rehab facilities in the Northeast where I can seek treatment? Matty 5.0 and I are starting to take weekly trips to the new Bass Pro Shops. I am admitting I have a problem now, but dont want it to become a full blown addiction.

The Bait Monkey is a part of many posts and is credited with all of them. He lives among us. He usually doesn't tell people to buy things, He is more subtle and provides the reasons why. He is suggestive and complimentary, and helps justify our "needs". In some ways the Bait Monkey is quite helpful, alerting BassResource.com members to new products and techniques. He is part of the fabric that binds many elements into what we call fishing. His favorite holiday is Christmas, but unlike Santa Claus, the Bait Monkey works year around. He is especially interested in birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions (like payday!).

Ignore Him if you like, some believe He is harmless.

8-)

NOOOOO.  He is a real threat.  We cannot be so naive.  DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT just blow off the bait monkey.  That will be the end of you!!

Just wait until he also becomes the boat monkey.  You think swimbaits are expensive, just wait.....

I think I did manage to cure his poison a bit recently.  I actually SOLD one of my boats. ;D ;D

Take that bait monkey!

This is how he works ,...in a nutshell.  You think it's a bad thing to be at BPS every weekend, Mr Monkey (notice the term of respect) thinks there are much worse placess a kid could be.

He's the good and the bad in all of us.

Probably so but don't waste your money. The only REAL cure is being broke.

Admitting you have a problem is step 1, thats good. I dont think it means much to the baitmonkey though. He really starts squeezing you once you've admitted your problem.....thats probably the reason for your weekly trips to BPS.

I am pretty sure who he is..... :;)

Kind of like Santa but more like the Devil....

I really don't see how people spend so much on lures just for the sake of collecting. Everything I have is for a reason. I don't own a lure that I don't use and I don't have more than I need, disregarding soft plastics such as flukes. Only reason I keep about 10 bags of those is because they are hard to find in my area and I go through them like crazy. Other than that though, I only have 2 or 3 of each bait that I use and that is very selected. The bait monkey craze may be fun and all, but I like having money on the side for a much more powerful monkey...the alcohol gorilla.

I'm glade that works for you, but a lot of guys buy stuff that just doesn't get used. As an example, I seem to have a fettish for jerkbaits: Lucky Craft Pointers, Rapala Husky Jerks & X-Rap and Smithwick Rogues. I "might" have fished four, but the rest need a bath!

  • Super User

I try to stay away from the alcohol gorilla.I once told my girl when she asked me why i spend so much on tackle i responded "well i could buy cheap hookers and lots of booze and turn into a *******" "or buy lures and go fishing as hobbie i can pass down to my kids."

It might only get used once or twice, but it will get used.Plus i really don't have that much to compair to some of these guys here.

Dear Baitmonkey,

Will you be the one who will tell me if the money minnow or silly rabbit is worth buying? And which one is better? Ive started threads asking about this, but no answers. I dont think anyone else has even tried them.

Sincerely,

The numbers are agianst you.

The lures you are asking about are very new on the market. They are hard for many people to find.

The fishing seasons are winding down and fewer people are on the water to use these new lures.

Make sure when you start a thread that you use a good title. It's not a good idea to use the first few words of your first sentance as the title. This is not going to spark someones interest and most people won't even click on your thread.

This might help you get more responses to your questions in the future.

All depends on the angler.  I suggest you buy a few of each, in different colors.  Use them and report back what you learned.
