Need a new rod...

Featured Replies

My friend tripped over one of my rods tonight and it broke. It was a Shimano PMS-60MC 6' Medium Action rod. The reel is a Shimano Sahara 2000FA. I want the new rod to be used primarily for worms/jigs. My budget will probably be less than $75, but I'm open to suggestions. I was thinking of the Cabela's XML series that's on sale right now. Specifically the XCLS665-1A....it's a 6'6" MH rated for 3/8-1 oz lures. Any better ideas?? Thanks in advance.

Try to find a used Crucial, I got one for $75 and I love it. And warranty works no matter who owns it.

There are many great deals on Ebay as stated above. Worms and jigs require a rod with a lot of sensitivity. You really should buy the bet rod you can afford.

if they're still available for $50, go for it :)

I've heard great things about crucials, and that warranty sounds nice!

The XML rod would be a great choice if its still on clearance and I would check ebay also since I've seen them discounted there as well.

I have one that has lasted me two years and still works great. They are good rods

Thanks for the replies everyone!!  Yeah the XML's are still on sale....the one I want is marked at $49.99 down from $139.99.  I'll check ebay also, but that Cabela's deal is pretty amazing.

I have 6 XML and a XMLTi and they are all great rods and even better at the sale price.

I say get the XML and if u don't like it you can always return it and even better deal if u can get it shipped to the store and pick it and save the shipping cost.

I would love to pick it up at the store, but there isn't one anywhere in the Southeast part of the country.  Strange considering how much hunting and fishing goes on down here.

Crucials are nice but i think the XML is or the XMLTI are a steal for the price if you can still get them on sale.  I only own a 6'6 M spinning in the XML series and I love the rod.
